First 5 Yolo actively engages its community in efforts to improve the lives of children ages 0-5 and their families through community partnerships, capacity-building for collective action and supporting public influence on the Commission and other local decision-makers
Community Engagement efforts include:
- Increasing awareness of priority issue areas and efforts throughout Yolo County for children ages 0-5 and their families with special emphasis on hard-to-reach communities.
- Linking community members, service providers and decision-makers.
- Ensuring community members are "at the table" and influence the First 5 Yolo Commission and other local decision-making with respect to concerns and desires about children ages 0-5 and their families.
- Fostering collective ownership/responsibility to raise children who are healthy and ready to learn.
